Mars Bar Cake

No one would ever guess that such a simple, no-bake recipe could produce such a rich and decadent treat. Adapted from the book 'Cupcakes from the Primrose Bakery', here's the awesome...Mars Bar Cake!!

Mars Bar Cake

50g unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 tablespoons golden syrup
260g Mars Bars (about 5), chopped into small pieces
150g rice krispies or cornflakes

(for the topping, use either a chocolate buttercream or melt 200g of milk chocolate)

Line a 9" tray with baking paper, or prepare 12 muffin cases. 
Melt the butter and syrup over a low heat, stirring constantly. Add the mars bars and keep stirring until melted. Remove from the heat and stir in the rice krispies. Press evenly into the tin (or spoon into muffin cases)  and leave to cool and set. Top with chocolate buttercream or melted milk chocolate.
